Mrs. Mildred Pressley Simmons, age 90 of Brookhaven Circle, Toccoa passed away Monday, September 30, 2024 at her residence, surrounded by her family.

A daughter of the late James Butler Pressley and Ollie Mae Brown Pressley, she was born December 22, 1933 in Stephens County, Georgia where she lived all her life. She was employed with Troup’s of Toccoa and Dr. Henry McNeely at Toccoa Medical Arts for a number of years. She was a sales representative for Avon for 20 years and Watkins for over 40 years. She was the oldest member of Mullins Ford Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, WMU and worked with the youth. She loved collecting bells of all descriptions and had a large collection of these. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Lamar Simmons, daughter, Ericha Lewis, sister, Mable Stancil and two brothers, Melvin Pressley and Dan Pressley.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, James and Cricket Simmons of Toccoa; daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Randy Collins of Toccoa; nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Betty Pressley Durden of Toccoa; niece, Janet Dye and her family; a number of other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Saturday, October 5, 2024, 1 o’clock p.m. at Mullins Ford Baptist Church with The Reverend Joey Stewart officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Cruize Stancil, Grant Dye, Ken Dye, Jonathon Jordan, Paul Robbins and Wayne Stancil.

The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Friday, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.

Interment will follow in the Mullins Ford Baptist Church Cemetery with The Reverend James Duncan officiating.
