Thomas R. “Tee Ball” Miller, 84, of North Vernon passed away at 4:46 A.M. on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at Covered Bridge Health Campus.
A Funeral Service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, October 7, 2024, at Sawyer – Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Deacon Larry French will officiate. Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery. A Rosary Service will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Visitation will be from 10:30 A.M. until the time of the service.
Born December 12, 1939, in Madison, Tom was the son of Robert J. and Phyllis Grace Padgett Miller.
Tom graduated from North Vernon High School in 1958. He attended Purdue University and graduated from Penn State with a degree in Turf Management. He worked as the golf pro and coarse superintendent at the Marion Elks Club in the 1960’s and 70’s, Muscatatuck Country Club and St. Anne’s Golf Course before retiring. He co-owned Miller’s Tavern with Delois for many years.
He was a Life Member of the PGA Half Century Club, North Vernon Moose Lodge, Eagles, Sons of the V.F.W., and Sons of AmVets. He enjoyed playing golf, gardening, flowers, bird watching and anything outdoors.
He is survived by sons, Kevin (Angie) Miller of North Vernon, and Kenneth Scott Miller of East Lansing, MI; daughter, Phyllis Kathleen Miller of Indianapolis; sisters, Nancy (Dave) O’Mara of North Vernon, Jeanie DeLisle of Speedway, Margie Miller of North Vernon, and Rosann (George) Smith of Mill Creek, WA; grandsons, John Miller of North Vernon and Sam (Darian) Miller of Scottsburg; great-grandchildren, Isabella Miller and Hudson Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to St. Mary’s School.
