Funeral services for Geraldine “Dennie” Burke will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 5, 2024 in the chapel of Hixson Brothers, Pineville with Reverend Willie Beaubouef officiating. Burial will be in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Deville.

Pallbearers will be Josh Tam, Curtis Tam, Chris McCormick, Bentley McCormick, Emmett Heims, David O’Neal and Richard Lee.

The family requests that visitation be observed at the funeral home Friday, October 4, 2024 from 5:00-8:00 p.m., and continued Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.

Mrs. Burke, 77, of Pineville, passed from this life on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family.

In her free time, Dennie found joy in crafting and tending to her beautiful flower garden, showcasing her green thumb. She was a seasoned traveler and cherished memories of her trip to London. Besides her love for exploration, Dennie was most renowned for her culinary skills, particularly her famous fried chicken, which brought comfort and delight to all who tasted it.

Known for her warm smile and kind heart, Dennie was a dedicated sales associate at Walmart for many years. Her presence will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Burke; parents, Willie Samuel and Hattie Habird Reed; brothers, Walter Reed, Tom Reed, Author Reed, and Floyd Reed; sisters, Hattie Mae Trahall, Katherine Reed, Bobbie Evans, and Cecil Reed.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Patricia Cross, Margaret Tam, and Dottie Burke; brother, John Reed; five grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren, and numerous other family and friends.
