Mary Christine Taylor Adams Phillips, 94, died Tuesday, October 1, 2024.
A Georgia girl, she was born in Baxley in 1929 to Grace Taylor and raised in Milledgeville by John and Allie Deen Taylor. Christine was the last surviving member of her immediate family, losing her parents; five loving sisters, Betty Lasher, Helen O'Neal, Linda Hooks, Ouida Taylor, and Montine Whitten; and two brothers, Nathaniel Taylor and Herbert Taylor.
She was married to the love of her life, Walter Otis Adams, and together they raised two children, Walter David Adams, Sr. and Sandra Adams Bridges. After Otis' death in 1970, she met and married Bert Phillips. All of them were reunited with her in heaven along with her grandson, Walter David Adams, Jr.
Left to cherish her memory are her two granddaughters, Olivia Roylston (Tom) and Tiffany Adams; four great-grandchildren, Kayla "Birdie" Barbare, Trent Barbare, Emily Barbare, and Aiden Jones; two daughters-in-law, Marsha Adams Smith and Jan Adams; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Her career included serving the Greenville area by working for Greenville City Police Department, Greenville County Police Department and the Ronald McDonald House.
A graveside service officiated by Rev. Lonnie Polson, the minister at White Oak Baptist Church where she was a member for many years, will be held Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
