Robert Merle Franks, affectionately known as Bobby to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2024, at 7:05am in Indianapolis, IN, at the age of 63. Born on September 23, 1961, in Columbus, OH, Bobby's life was characterized by an unwavering passion, a loving heart, and a sense of humor that could light up the darkest of rooms.
Bobby's journey through life was one of dedication and joy. He was the beloved husband of the late Ruth Ann Franks, who preceded him in death. Together, they shared a bond that was a testament to true love and companionship. He is also preceded in death by his parents Merle and Wilma Franks. Bobby's legacy continues through his devoted son, Jonathan Franks, and his granddaughter, Harper Ann Franks.
He was a caring brother to Laura Rabb and Jackie Tackett, both of whom he shared countless memories with. Their spouses, along with Bobby's nieces, Kelly Jones and Katelyn Gibson, and nephews, Jason McCormack and Matthew Tackett, will fondly remember his playful teasing and the warmth of his embrace. Bobby also held a special place in his heart for his cousin, Kim Gordon-Combs.
Bobby's interests were as unique as his personality. He had an exceptional talent for refurbishing pinball machines, turning the old into new with a meticulous and creative touch. His workshop was his sanctuary, a place where he could express his creativity and where friends and family were always welcome to share in his latest project.
Those who knew Bobby will remember him as a man who lived with fervor. His passion was evident in everything he did, from his hobbies to the way he loved his family. He was a beacon of love, always ready with a joke or a kind word, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
As we bid farewell to Robert Merle Franks, we celebrate a heart that loved deeply and a spirit that will continue to inspire laughter and joy in our memories. Bobby's story is not one of sorrow, but a beautiful tale of a life that touched so many others in profound and enduring ways.
