Brother Calvin Lorenzo Sanders was 60, and departed this life Sunday September 29, in Florence County. He was the father of Calvin R. Sanders, Kelly Sanders, Sonnie Sanders and Travis Sanders, the brother of Helen Wright, Evelyn Otterbridge, Mattie Davis, Charles Sanders, Solist Sanders, James Sanders, Lena Howard, Mary Foxworth and Deborah Moody. Funeral services are scheduled to be held at the New Greater Singletary AME Church, Marion (Wahee Community) on Tuesday October 8, at 2:00 pm. He will be laid to rest at Singletary AME Church Cemetery. Services will be live-streamed on the Jackson & McGill Facebook Page. 

~ Obituary ~ 

Calvin Lorenzo Sanders, our beloved brother, father, nephew, uncle, cousin, and friend; gained his wings on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at MUSC in Florence, South Carolina. Calvin was born on May 4, 1964 to the late Authur and Lula Mae Adams Sanders.

Calvin graduated from Terrell’s Bay High School in the Class of 1982. Calvin joined Greater Singletary AME Church, at an early age and confessed Christ as his personal Saviour. Calvin parents and grandparents were very devoted members to the church. Calvin, as he was affectionately called “Horse” by his oldest sister, Helen Wright. She said he was a tall guy always leaping like a “Horse.” He was a faithful member of the [Sons of Allen]. The Sons of Allen are faithful in the community helping with Senior Citizens. Calvin had a love for helping with all mankind.  He was employed with Canford Lumber Company of Marion, South Carolina, until he became disabled. Calvin was a ‘Country Boy’ at heart, being raised on a farm he loved planting, harvesting, fishing, and hunting wild game.

Calvin was preceded in death in addition to his parents; three brothers: Authur “Deddie Boy” Sanders Jr, Frank “Johnny” Sanders and Tyrone Sanders.

Calvin leaves to cherish legacy and fond memories ~ four children: Calvin R. Sanders, Kelly Sanders, Sonni Sanders, Travis Sanders; a grandson: Jalien Sanders; one bonus daughter: Trinity Williams; his former wife: Denise F. Robinson Sanders; four step-children: Kimberly Robinson, Kendrick Robinson, Larry Robinson, Senica Robinson; sisters: Helen Wright of Buffalo, NY, Evelyn Outterbridge of Pleasantville, NJ, Mattie Sanders Davis, Solist Boyd} Sanders, Lena {James} Howard, Mary {Clifton} Foxworth, Deborah {Chris} Moody; one sister-n-law:Alicetine Sanders; two brothers: Charles {Doretha} Sanders, James Sanders all of Marion SC; two aunts: Dorothy {Lee} Bartell of Florence, SC, Teretha Battle of Hinesville, GA; a very special very friend: Cynthia Brown of Marion, SC, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
