Coach James “Jimmy” or “Jimbob” Clinton, age 68 of York, SC passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Friday, October 4, 2024 at Bratton Funeral Home, 1455 Filbert Hwy York, SC 29745. The funeral service will be held at 11 am the following day, Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Oakdale Presbyterian Church, 12585 State Hwy 55 Clover, SC 29710, with Coach John Barrett and Coach Joey Moore who are members of Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York.

Jimbob was born on February 18, 1956 in York County. He was the son of the late Emmett Love Clinton and Sarah Ellen Clinton and the widower of Judy Neal Clinton. He was a lover of all sports. Jimbob coached at York Schools which was a dream come true for him. He was a member of Spring Lake Country Club where he spent a lot of time with many friends. He loved country music and was told by friends he was a smooth dancer. Jimbob was loved by many and known for his cooking, especially his steaks. Out of all these loves, his family was #1 in his heart. His last thought was to be reunited with his wife, Judy who was the love of his life, and for his family to help watch over his #1 son, Jeremy. Even though he was not a member of any particular church, he was a confirmed believer in his Lord Jesus Christ.

Jimbob is survived by his son, Jeremy Clinton; his sister, Debbie Black (Steve); his brothers, Phillip Clinton (Cindy), Randy Clinton (Donna); and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, Jimbob was preceded in death by his sisters, Connie Clinton, Retha Smart, and Carolyn White; and his brothers, Lindsay Clinton, Marion Clinton, and Ricky Clinton.
