Joe Mantz

1933 - 2024

Paul Joseph Mantz 91, of Greenup KY went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born on April 25, 1933, the son of the late Richard and Gertie Jackson Mantz.

After graduating from Russell High School, he proudly served his Country in the United States Navy. He went on to become a member of plumbers and steamfitters, local 248. Having received his pin commemorating 70 years of membership this year. Joe retired as a welder from AK Steel with over 30 years of service. Throughout the years he made many memories with friends and family on hunting, fishing and camping trips. He was a 50 plus year member of Greenup Masonic Lodge #89 F & A.M.. Joe was a 20 plus year member of the Greenup City Council, having served one term as Mayor. He was a member of Greenup United Methodist Church. His best memories were those he made with his family. He loved having everyone at home.

He was preceded in death along with his parents by his loving wife of 58 years, Diana Elizabeth Bruce Mantz and a brother Donald Mantz.

He is survived by his son, Bruce Mantz and his wife Lisa of Greenup KY; daughter, Paula Partin and her husband Barney of Lakeview OH; granddaughters, Megan Mantz of Greenup, Madison Imel and her husband Andrew of Greenup; grandson, Chris Partin and his wife Lisa of Lakeview OH; great grandsons, Archer and Axton Imel of Greenup and a great granddaughter, Emma Partin of Alger OH; special caregiver, Sheila Arnn and many extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 PM on Monday, October 7, 2024, at the Greenup United Methodist Church in Greenup by Reverend Dr. Nancy Preston.

Burial will follow in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast in Greenup County Kentucky.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM till the time of the funeral service on Monday at the Church.

Masonic services will be held by Greenup Lodge #89.    

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Greenup United Methodist Church.
