It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Phyllis Acosta Pitts, age 68, of Brooksville, FL.

Phyllis was born in Ybor City in 1955 and moved to Brooksville in 2007. 

She was a graduate of Hillsborough High School in Tampa and retired from the accounting and finance field in 2021.

Phyllis is survived by her husband of 36 years, Leroy A. Pitts, Jr., her parents Roland and Liz Acosta, sisters, Carolyn Murphy and Gwendolyn (Bismark) Lahera, mother-in-law, Marcella Pitts, brother-in-law, David (Martha) Pitts, stepdaughter LaTasha (Raymond) Sheridan III, step-grandsons, Raymond (Rachel) Sheridan IV and Roman Sheridan, 3 step-great grandsons, 4 nieces, 1 nephew and several great nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Owen and Ruby Maxwell, Ramon and Phyllis Acosta, father-in-law, Leroy A. Pitts, step-granddaughter, LaLani A. Sheridan and brother-in-law, Gerald Murphy.

Phyllis was a beloved wife, daughter, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.

The family will gather for a private celebration of Phyllis’s life at a later date.
