Carolyn R. Miller Obituary

Troy - Carolyn R. Miller, 89, died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, September 30, 2024, at Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center, Troy NY.

Born in Cohoes, Carolyn was the daughter of the late Andrew Rivage and Grace Williamson Rivage.  Raised on the North Side of Waterford, she resided in Green Island for 30 years. She earned her teaching degree from the State University of Albany and taught High School French for many years.

Carolyn was Executive Director of the Green Island Senior Citizens from their start in 1970 until retiring in 2005. She created many programs and organized trips for the members and always made sure everyone felt connected.

Two things that meant the most to Carolyn were her church and her family. She was extremely active as a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Green Island, especially in the choir and the United Methodist Women.  She enjoyed nothing more than going to her grand-children's events and many Saturdays would find her at three ball games making sure they knew Grandma saw them.  Family and holidays were very important to Carolyn and she always looked for an excuse to have a family dinner. She was a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan who watched as many games as possible.

Survivors include three sons, Robert (Mary) Miller, Troy, Geoffrey (Cindy) Miller, Green Island, and Daniel (Tammy) Miller, Troy; her grandchildren, Angela (Jesse) Heilmann, Alex Miller, Zachary (Carly) Miller, Nathaniel (Laura) Miller, Noah Miller, Owen Miller, and Courtney Miller; her great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Piper and Bennett Miller and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her former husband, the Rev. George Miller, Jr.; a brother, Dennis Rivage; a sister, Marion Rivage and two half-sisters, Dorothy Horrocks and Helen Sickler.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc, 276 Pawling Ave, Troy on Sunday, October 6, 2024, from 3-5 PM.  The funeral service will be held Monday, October 7, 2024, at 10 AM at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 89 Hudson Ave, Green Island with her son Geoffrey, officiating.
