James Dexter Barker Obituary

Mr. James Dexter Barker was born May 16, 1963 in Logan Co. Kentucky. He departed this life Sunday September 29, 2024 in Bowling Green, Ky. 

James professed a hope in Christ at an early age and later on became deacon at Lively Stone Church South in Bowling Green, Ky. Affectionately known by close friends and family as “Deacon”. He loved wrestling, westerns and cooking. Even more he loved others. 

Preceded in death by his Mother Mary Frances Barker. His maternal grandparents T. Willie Barker and Eunice Tean Williams. Leaving to celebrate his memories a step father Lester Woodard (Franklin, Ky), One daughter; Shakelia D. Ellington and three sons James Dale Barker (Brittnie) (Terre Haute, IN,) Tavain T. Matthews (Bowling Green, Ky) and La’ Keithio M. Matthews (Carmel, IN). Sister; Cathy Woodard. His aunt “Tiny” Barker. Ten grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Also, special friends April Matthews, Daryl Wingo and Kenneth Hardaway.
