A native of New Orleans and a proud Lafayette resident since the 5th grade, Dane Escott was a man of many talents, passions, and a deep love for his family and community. He attended Our Lady of Fatima School, where he met the love of his life, Cara Judice. Their love story blossomed, and in 1973, they married as high school sweethearts.

He built a beautiful life in Lafayette, raising his family and excelling in his career. After graduating with a degree in Electrical Engineering from USL, he began his professional journey with Dallas Power and Light Company. Later, he joined Auto-Comm Engineering Corporation, where he started the engineering department. In 1981, he founded ECI, an engineering consulting firm. Under his leadership, the company grew, eventually merging with MCI in 1999 to become Pegasus International, where he served as CEO until his retirement in 2008.

Outside of work, Mr. Escott was a man of many interests. He enjoyed fishing, hunting with his loyal canine companion, Riggs, and had a passion for cooking and following the stock market. A devoted Ragin’ Cajun football fan, he also had a keen interest in genealogy and took great pride in his Indian heritage. His love for Mardi Gras was evident through his 30-year involvement as float captain and his reign as King Bonaparte XXXIV in 2010, alongside his beloved wife as Queen Josephine, with the Krewe of Bonaparte.

Above all, Dane cherished time spent with family and friends, especially during holidays and life’s special milestones. His warmth, generosity, and love for those closest to him will be forever remembered by all who knew him.

Upholding the honor of pallbearers will be Chase Escott, Brian Rowell, Ryan Escott, Matt Judice, Christopher Kremheller, and Damian Escott.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Gunter Rowell, Gates Rowell, and Greer Rowell.

The Escott family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to Hospice of Acadiana, and all the family and friends that have provided support and prayers.
