Etta Irene Creswell Obituary

Etta Irene "McRee" Creswell, 93, of Elk City, Oklahoma was born on February 9, 1931 in Leedey, Oklahoma. She is the daughter of Jack and Stella B. (Price) McRee. She went to walk the golden streets of heaven on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at Baptist Village, Elk City, Oklahoma surrounded by her loving family.


Irene married the love of her life, T. Ackley Creswell on September 4, 1947 in Wheeler, Texas. To this union four daughters were born, Linda, Lilla, Karen, and Oleta and one son, Roy Lynn. Her husband, T. Ackley preceded her in death on July 3, 1983.


Irene's work started on a farm East of Hammon, Oklahoma. She spent the next seven years raising her family. She worked, owned and operated the Laundry in Hammon for four years and was a waitress at Flamingo Restaurant in Elk City, Oklahoma. In 1963, Irene was employed at First National Bank of Hammon until her retirement at the age of eighty-two. She also was the Hammon City Clerk for thirty years, Hammon School Treasurer.


Irene was a life long member of the Hammon First Baptist Church, Hammon, Oklahoma. Irene's favorite activities were traveling, dancing. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.


At the family's request the casket will be closed, please feel free to come sign the registrar book on Friday, October 4, 2024 from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Martin-Dugger Funeral Home Chapel, Elk City, Oklahoma. Dolan Ivey will officiate. Interment will be at Red Hill Cemetery, Hammon, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to the care of Richard and Tammy Dugger and the staff of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma.


Cherishing her memory is her four daughters, Linda Thomas of Elk City, Oklahoma, Lilla Allen of Elk City, Oklahoma, Karen A. Broadbent of Calumet, Oklahoma, Oleta Baker and her husband, Roy of Elk City, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.


Irene is preceded in death by her husband, T. Ackley Creswell, one son, Roy Lynn Creswell; both her parents, Jack and Stella B. McRee; and one sister, Florene Emmons.
