Deacon Truman “Arnie” Lipscomb, 81, of Salem passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024, at his residence with family by his side. He was born on October 14, 1942, in Bristol, WV, the son of the late Truman J. and Elizabeth Williamson Lipscomb.
Arnie is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patricia Louise Yaegle Lipscomb, whom he married on December 1, 1962.
In addition to his wife, Arnie is survived by his children, Truman Patrick (Debra) Lipscomb of Salem, John (Ramonda) Lipscomb of Waynesburg, PA, Mary (Steve) McCartney of Buckhannon, Debra (David) Nussear of College Grove, TN, Lisa Lipscomb of Morgantown, and Linda (Michael) Thompson of Beach Park, IL; grandchildren, Jettie Lipscomb Malcomb, Jennifer Louise (Matt) Stevison, Haley (Ben) Dugan, Brenna Elizabeth Lipscomb, Abigayle True Lipscomb, Scott Ardith Boggs, Zachary Boggs, Jordan Elizabeth Nussear, Camden Nussear, Eric (Brittany) McCartney, Austin (Sydney) McCartney, and Abagail McCartney; great grandchildren, Layla Malcomb, Juliana McCartney, and Hudson McCartney; brother-n-law, William Nielsen; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Arnie was preceded in death by one great-grandchild, Braelyn Malcomb; two sisters, Thelma (Ralph) Delaney, and Jean Neilson.
Arnie graduated from Victory High School, Class of 1961, where he played football. He served his country in the United States Air Force. Arnie worked at Consolidated Supply from 1966-1991, at Lang Brothers from 1992-1995, and he was a permanent Deacon for the Catholic Church in Preston County and directed the Catholic Church Home Summer Repair Program from 1995-2010. He was an active member and Deacon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He enjoyed farming, raising cows and pigs, and always had a huge garden. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching sporting events. His pride and joy weas his family and spending time with them.
Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home- Salem, 1999 W Main Street Salem, on Thursday, October 3, 2024 from 2-8 PM where a vigil service will be held at 6:30pm. A Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Akila Rodrigo as celebrant and Deacon Tom Tronzo, David Lester and John Yaquinta. Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens where full military honors will be accorded by the Harrison County Honor Guard and the US Air Force Honor Guard.
