Linda G. Long, 85, of Springfield, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 29, 2024. She was born on May 16, 1939, in Ironton, Ohio, the daughter of the late Hugh and Gertrude (Marshall) Chatfield. Linda was preceded by her beloved husband, Don Long in 2012 and they had 53 years together. Linda was a joy to be around and was a kind soul. She and Don spent many years attending Southern Gospel concerts most specifically the Gaithers. Linda spent 18 years working as an assistant at Littleton & Rue Funeral Home, retiring in 2014. During her time, she compassionately served the community. Linda is survived by her daughter, Deborah Kay Humston, son, Greg (Cheryl) Long, grandchildren: Danielle, Chad, and Travis; great grandchildren: McKayla, Brennan, Eradynn, Cayden, Carson, Crew, Colton and Axton; and brother-in-law, Roy Long; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by four brothers: Bob, Cecil, Pete, and Larry. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, October 3rd from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Services will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the Forest Valley Free Will Baptist Church. A burial will follow the service in Ferncliff Cemetery.
