Philip “Tom” Thomas Fish aged 84 passed away on September 30, 2024, at the VA Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Tom was born on June 8, 1940, in Pittsford, Michigan to Philip and Catherine (Ray) Fish.
Tom is survived his wife of 56 years Carrol Fish, one son Phil (Sandy) Fish, one daughter Janella (Andrew) McOscar, 4 grandsons Justin Thomas Fish of Canton, MI, Drew Matthew (Brittany) McOscar of Shelbyville, MI, Wyatt Allen Fish, serving the military in San Diego, CA and transferring to Yokosuka, Japan very soon, and Philip Garrett Fish of Pittsford, MI. Tom is also survived by one sister Serena Ruth of Pittsford, MI, and six sister in-laws Jane Ginolfi, of Osseo, MI, Joann Boyd, of Ozark, AL, Litz (James) Cunningham of Pittsford, MI, Michael (Martha) Noyes of Cataula, GA, Nancy (Larry) Mills of Hillsdale, MI and JD (Terry) Noyes of Hillsdale, MI and several nieces and nephews.
Tom is preceded in passing by his parents Philip and Catherine Fish, one brother in-law Vernon Ruth, sisters Evelyn Jean Fish and Evelyn Kay Jacob, brother in-laws Steve Ginolfi and James Boyd, a nephew Donnie Ruth and a niece Susan Ruth.
Before Tom began his career, he enjoyed his time in the United States Airforce and was stationed in Guam.
Tom was a good, solid worker and enjoyed his work as a Pattern and Die Maker and worked at Richard Brothers – Allied Products for 28 years, after working for Richard Brothers Tom drove a semi for Central Steel and Wire, and later became the head of quality and control at Republic Tool and Die in Jackson, MI, toward the end of his working career.
Throughout Tom’s career family vacations were important and the Tom always took time for vacations and spending time with his family. Tom also made a special trip to Alberta, Canada with his family and his mother Catherine to help his mother visit with a life-long friend. The family always traveled to the Thrasher Convention at the Fulton County Fair and Tom and Carrol enjoyed traveling after Tom’s retirement. In Tom’s leisure time he always enjoyed watching western movies, was avid reader and his favorite author was Louis L'Amour whom the family is certain that Tom owned and read every book written by Louis L’Amour.
Tom had many talents, and He was an avid wood worker, enjoyed ice fishing, walking in and being outside in the woods, Tom loved spending time with his grandsons and their dogs whom Tom called his grand dogs.
To honor Tom’s life the family will friends for visitation on Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 6-8 PM at Hampton Funeral Home in Hillsdale and on Friday, October 4, 2024, from noon until 1:00 PM, a funeral service will also be held on Friday, October 4, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the Liberty Bible Church in Pittsford, MI with Dr. Samuel E. Wickard officiating. Interment will take place immediately following the funeral service at the Leonardson Cemetery in Pittsford, MI.
For those who wish a memorial contribution can be made to the Liberty Bible Church, or to the Alzheimer’s Association, contribution envelopes will be available at the visitation and the funeral service.
