Raymond Lewis Penland Obituary

Mr. Raymond Lewis Penland Sr., 92, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2024. Lewis was born March 28, 1932, in Macon County, North Carolina to the late Raymond and Ann Womack Penland.

Mr. Penland attended North Carolina State University and graduated with the class of 1953. Later, Lewis owned and operated Penland Construction company for over 50 years. Mr. Penland loved beef cattle farming. He was of the Baptist faith and an Army Veteran who served in the Korean War.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Penland was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Richard, Frances Shope, and Anna Jean Moore.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Betty Penland; his two sons, C. Lewis Penland and R. Larry Penland; 5 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.

A Graveside service will be held 11:00 Am Friday, October 4, 2024, at Woodlawn Cemetery with Rev. Lester Evans officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 108 and the VFW Post 7338.
