Julia “Judy” Hoge Daly, 92, of West Alexander, PA, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2024 at her home.
She was born September 20, 1932 in West Alexander, daughter of the late Morgan and Flora Hoge.
Judy was born and lived her entire life in West Alexander. She was valedictorian of the class of 1950 at West Alexander High School and also served as the captain of the girls basketball team for three years. She graduated from West Liberty State College School of Dental Hygiene.
Judy worked as a dental hygienist in Washington with Dr. Stephen Allison for more than 30 years. She was the best of our bunch, always ready to step up and lend a helping hand, offer a word of encouragement or share the warmest hug. She treasured her family and was always so proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved her friends, neighbors and her church. She was the undisputed expert on just about everything — cooking, gardening, home repair, collecting (antiques, china and rent), child-rearing and no nonsense decision making.
She married Philip Thomas Daly in 1954. They were married for 67 years and had three beautiful children.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Phil, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia McCuen; sister, Frances Stewart; and brothers, Carl, Donald and Jim Hoge.
She is survived by her children, David (Barbara) Daly and Carol (Frank) Daly Moore; brother, Wayne Hoge; son-in-law, Scott McCuen; grandchildren, Jackson (Katy) Daly, Kristin Coury, Kathleen (Travis) Weisse, Julia (Jordan) Beaty, Kathryn Moore and Philip McCuen; and great-grandchildren, Charlie, Mya and Emmett Coury, Marion June and Georgia Kathleen Daly and Owen Robert Beaty.
Friends and family will be received Thursday, October 3, 2024 from 4 - 8 PM at West Alexander Presbyterian Church and Friday, October 4, 2024 from 10 AM until the time of service at 11 AM with Kable Dale officiating at West Alexander Presbyterian Church, 108 Main St., West Alexander.
