Edgar Omar Sanchez Resendiz, 15, a resident of the Cornelius community, died Sunday morning, September 29, 2024 at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 12 Noon at St. Alexander Catholic Church, 170 N. 10th Avenue in Cornelius, with Fr. David Schiferl, celebrant. Rite of Christian Burial will follow at Forest View Cemetery, 1161 W. Pacific Avenue in Forest Grove.

EDGAR OMAR SANCHEZ RESENDIZ was born January 1, 2009, in Hillsboro, Oregon, the son of Omar Sanchez Ortiz and Adela Resendiz. He was raised and received his education in the Cornelius community, having been an eighth grader at Neil Armstrong Middle School in Forest Grove.

He was a member of St. Alexander Parish in Cornelius.

Among his special interests, Edgar enjoyed playing soccer, starting at a young age of 6. Along the way he made friends that he enjoyed talking to. Edgar enjoyed cooking certain dishes but his favorite was a homemade pizza. He also liked reading anime books which he had a whole collection of. His most valuable interest was his video games that he played and enjoyed everyday. With these interests, he was a clean and organized person. Edgar was a very exclusive and private person. While his privacy was very important to him he was always willing to open up to those close around him. Edgar is a strong and brave person that never gave up and that had always confronted the challenges he had along the way. He has left us with a lesson to never give up and push forward. We are so happy to call him our son.

Survivors include his parents, Omar Sanchez Ortiz and Adela Resendiz, of the family home in Cornelius, Oregon; his grandmother, Lorenza Nambo Ciro, of Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico; his grandfather, Margarito Sanchez Escutio, of Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico; his two brothers, Ivan Sanchez and Santiago Sanchez, both of Cornelius, Oregon; his aunts and uncles,
