Funeral services for Robert V. “Bob” Lindsteadt, age 89, of Norfolk, will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 4, 2024, at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk.  Reverend Michael Moreno will officiate.  Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 3, 2024, at the Home for Funerals, 1203 W. Norfolk Avenue.  Interment will be in New Lutheran Cemetery in Norfolk. The funeral service will be livestreamed on the church’s Facebook page.  Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.  

He passed away Monday, September 30, 2024 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. 

Bob was born May 31, 1935, in Norfolk, Nebraska, to Ernest J. and Frieda Lindsteadt. He was baptized in 1935, confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in 1949, and attended Christ Lutheran Elementary School through the eighth grade. He attended and graduated from Norfolk Sr. High School in 1953.

After graduation, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1955, having served in Okinawa.

He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Wayne State College. He taught in smaller schools for five years and then for 34 years at Norfolk Public Schools.

Bob was an active lifetime member of Christ Lutheran Church, serving on numerous boards and committees. Bob also served on the Christ Evangelical New Lutheran Cemetery Board as Treasurer. He was a charter member of Norfolk Morning Kiwanis and served in numerous volunteer positions. 

Bob was a teacher through and through. His favorite classroom was the outdoors, which he loved. Lessons on the lake and in the field were experienced by many. These lessons were rivaled only by the ones taught on the cribbage board.

He married Karla (Rakowsky) Lindsteadt on June 1, 1958, and three children were born to this union, Joy (Dr. James) Morgan, Julie (Robert) Troester, and Greg (Laura) Lindsteadt. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Jonathon Troester; his sister, Doris Ann Kraemer; and his brothers, Jim Lindsteadt and Bill Lindsteadt.

He is survived by his wife, Karla; his children; grandchildren, Nathan (Kaitlyn) Troester, Dr. Collin (Emily) Troester, Kara (Ross) Blythe, Liam Murphy, Graham Murphy, and Audrey Lindsteadt; four great-grandchildren; sister, Kathy (Darrell) Coppock; brother, John (Janet) Lindsteadt; sister-in-law, Raisa Lindsteadt; and many nieces and nephews.
