Larry Gordon Croy, 78, passed away on September 30, 2024, at his home in Frisco, Texas. He was born on September 14, 1946, in Duncan, Oklahoma to Clayton and Wanda Croy.
Larry is survived by his wife of 46 years, Diane Croy; his daughter, Carrie Croy of Oklahoma City; his son, Lute Croy, and daughter-in-law, Keri Beth Croy of Frisco, Texas; and his beloved grandchildren, Drew and Krosby Croy. He is also survived by three brothers: John Croy and his wife Mettie of Duncan, Leonard Croy and his wife Sharon of Ada, and Roman Petty and his wife Diane of Duncan, OK. Additionally, he is survived by a sister-in-law, Katie Chisum of Oklahoma City, as well as many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Wanda Croy, a brother, Gary Croy, and his sister-in-law Debbie Croy. Above all else, Larry cherished his family, and his love for them was the cornerstone of his life.
A proud veteran, Larry served his country as a crew chief in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. His dedication and technical expertise in this crucial role contributed significantly to the readiness and effectiveness of Air Force aircraft during his service. Following his military career, he pursued his passion for automobiles, becoming known for his exceptional skills as a mechanic. Larry had a gift for fixing anything mechanical, a talent he enjoyed sharing with others until his health began to decline.
While Larry found great satisfaction in his work, his true joy came from spending time with his friends and family. Larry also appreciated life's simple pleasures, enjoying time with his buddies playing pool and indulging in his love for fishing. These pastimes brought him happiness and allowed him to connect with friends and nature in meaningful ways.
Although he didn't always have much, he always had a soft heart and was ready to lend a helping hand to friends in need. His compassion and willingness to assist others, even in small ways, left a lasting impact on those around him.
Larry will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his mechanical prowess, his enjoyment of simple pleasures, and most importantly, for his generous spirit. He touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Family will be receiving visitors at Whitt Funeral Home Thursday, October 3rd, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 4th at 1:00 p.m. at the Whitt Funeral Home Chapel in Duncan, Oklahoma.
