David Lee Post, 74, of Huntington, WV, formerly of Clarksburg, passed away, on September, 29, 2024 after a brief illness. He was born in Clarksburg, on October 4, 1949, son of the late Lee Post and Helen Louise Boatwright Post.
David graduated from Roosevelt-Wilson High School with the class of 1967. He played basketball during his high school years, and was active in chorus. He earned an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Oklahoma University, and later continued his studies at Finger Lake Community College in Canadaigua, NY. While living in NY, David was Chief of Security for the VA Medical Center. At that time, he was the youngest Chief of Security in the VA system. He was a proud veteran, having served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. While stationed in Guam, he worked in security with the K-9 Corp. He loved working with and training dogs. After leaving the VA system, David worked primarily in construction. David loved music, especially Country and Gospel; and would sing anytime he had an audience. Affectionally known as “Cowboy”, he had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off his back. He loved the Lord, the USA, his family and friends, and the Dallas Cowboys. He was raised in the Methodist Church, but especially enjoyed attending the Rushing Winds Ministry Church. He currently attended Trinity Church of God in Huntington, WV. He enjoyed attending the Saturday River City Street Ministry in Huntington, where he got to sing.
David is survived by a son, Timothy Lee Trader, Clarksburg, WV, and a daughter, Kricia Ansivino Phillips, Harrah, OK; two special stepsons, Ricky Woody and Michael Woody and their mother, Betty Farhner; his older sister, Dorothy Post Kerns Swick, of Clarksburg, WV and her adult children, Mendi Kerns Simon (Gary), Edward Kerns (Jana), and James Swick (Lisa); one grandchild, Aubreigh Phillips Fisher (Jesse), OK; several nieces and nephews; many cousins, especially the Langford/Bennetts from Johnstown, WV. He had many loving friends in his life, among whom were a loving and supportive companion, Elizabeth Springer, of McMechen, WV, and Sherri Norman, Bridgeport, WV, who was like a sister to him.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his younger brother, Danny Martin Post.
At his request, David will be cremated. He has requested no visitation or service, and will be buried at the National Cemetery in Grafton, at a later time, at the convenience of the family.
