Mary Jean Terese “Jeannee” Josefczyk Obituary

Mary Jean Terese "Jeannee" Josefczyk, 80, of Sarver, formerly of West Deer, passed away Sunday, September 29th, at Concordia Lutheran Ministries, Cabot.

Jeannee was born in Latrobe, PA on August 6, 1944, the only daughter of the late Amelia (Castello) Barlow and Paul Prymak.

Jeannee was a proud graduate of West Deer High School and Franco's Beauty Academy. She was a print and runway model before moving behind the scenes as a professional makeup artist.  Her illustrious career in the makeup and hair industry spanned over four decades, during which she became a revered figure in the Pittsburgh area and across the country. Jeannee's skilled hands and artistic vision graced numerous commercials before she made a significant leap into the movie makeup industry. Her work on iconic films such as "Night of the Living Dead," "Striking Distance," "Warrior," "I am Number Four," and "Sweet Girl" showcased her exceptional talent. Her dedication to her craft was recognized in 2001 when she was nominated for the Hollywood Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist Guild Award for Best Special Makeup Effects in a Mini-Series/Motion Picture Made for Television for her work on  HBO's "The Corner." Additionally, Jeannee played an instrumental part in the formation of the Pittsburgh Film Office, was a founding member and president of the Pittsburgh Filmworkers Association,  a member of  PAFIA (Pennsylvania Film Industry Association) and sat on the board for Pittsburgh Women in Film.

She was a member of St. Mary, Mother of God Church Freeport, where she was a member of the St. Mary's Christian Mothers. She was also a member of the Ladies of Charity at Guardian Angels Parish, Natrona Heights.  Jeannee enjoyed collecting stuffed animals for the Ladies of Charity and delivering them to local fire departments and police stations to give to children during tragedy or crisis situations.  She volunteered with the Salvation Army for many years helping organize toy donations for their Christmas drive.  In her "spare time," Jeannee enjoyed gardening, attending musicals and shows, and playing bingo.  She designed beautiful beaded jewelry under the name "Solo Uno" and shared her works with family and friends.  She loved her cats, Pia and Carina, but nothing brought her as much joy as her family. Of all the accomplishments in her life, it was her family which she was most proud.  She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren , who were a part of every conversation when she wasn't with them.

Jeannee is survived by two daughters, Brigitte and her husband Douglas Kennedy, of Kittanning and Ramona Josefczyk and her fiance Lino Solis, of Corpus Christi, TX, and a son, Ronald John and his wife Lori Josefczyk, of Sarver,  She is also survived by four grandchildren, Christian and Amelia Jean Kennedy and Alana and Hayden Josefczyk and two step-granddaughters, Charlotte and Hadley Solis.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step father, John Barlow and an uncle, Ray Castello, both of whom she considered her father figures.
