Norman Barohn Obituary

Norman Barohn, a cherished family man and esteemed psychologist passed away on September 29, 2024, at the age of 85 in South Bend, Indiana. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, on April 7, 1939, to parents Oscar and Pearl (Fisher) Barohn, Norman grew into a man of integrity and warmth, touching the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Norman was united in marriage to Lucille (Vasta) Lord on April 24, 1988, in Huntington, New York.

After attaining his master’s degree in psychology, Norman dedicated his career to the wellbeing of others. He retired in 1995 from the Wantagh School District in Wantagh, NY, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and professional dedication. Norman’s commitment to his community extended beyond his career as he served as an Army Reservist.

Norman's enthusiasm for life was evident through his love for Yankees baseball, bridge, golf, and softball. He was a fantastic father, stepfather, grandfather and loving, caring husband.

Left to honor Norman's memory is his loving wife, Lucille Lord; daughters Lauren (Tim) Iwan  of Tempe, Arizona and Ruth Barohn of Mesa, Arizona; stepdaughters Meg (Mike) Lacarrubba of South Bend, Lisa (Rob) Schukei of East Fairfield, Vermont, and Tracy Lord of Saint Albans, Vermont; son Josh Barohn of Australia; stepson Michael (Debra) Lord of Long Island, New York; fifteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his brother, Selwyn (Mimi) of Saint Louis, Missouri and nephews Ricky and Gary Barohn of Saint Louis, Missouri.  Each of them carries forward a piece of Norman's generous spirit and unwavering love.
