Rosalie Fischels, 86, of Waterloo died Monday, September 30th surrounded by her loving family at her home.
She was born May 24, 1938 in Waterloo, the daughter of Charles and Maxine Elliot Schmitt. She married Melvin Fischels on June 7, 1959, in Waterloo. He preceded her in death on October 8, 2005.
Rosalie was employed at John Deere in blueprint and then at Waterloo Greyhound Park. She also had various other jobs in the Waterloo area.
Survivors include: her children, Monte (Tammy Holtmeyer) Fischels and Michelle Fischels both of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Eric Mulvania, Adam Fischels, Kendra Fischels, and Dylan Wygle; three great grandchildren, Myah Fischels, Desiree Johnson McCombs, and Kamdyn Fischels; her step-brother, Jerry Federspiel of Waterloo; her brother-in-law’s, Cleo and Jane Fischels of Jesup and Joe Fischels of Gilbertville; her sister-in-law, Bonnie Weber of Gilbertville; many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by: her parents; her brothers, Robert Schmitt and Richard “Dick” Schmitt; many step-brother’s and sister’s; many brother and sister-in-law’s; special friend, Gary Gordon.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 5th at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with inurnment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, both in Gilbertville. Public visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, October 4th at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 4 p.m. Rosary. Visitation also one hour prior to Mass Saturday at the church.
Memorials may be directed to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
