Dolores Crynes Hawkins born on May 21, 1933, in Johnstown, PA to the late Charles and Geraldine (Jaber) Joseph passed away peacefully, in the loving care of her family, on September 29, 2024, in Granger, IN.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; W. Ben Hawkins, and her siblings; Frances, Ann, Norman, William, Theodore, Eddie, Dawn, and Sandy. She is also remembered by her former husband Ronald E. Crynes.

Dolores is survived by her devoted daughter, Cyndi Lang and son-in-law Brad of South Bend, IN, She was a proud grandmother to Christopher Lang (Amanda) of Chicago, IL, and Alex Lang (Britney Billstein) of Austin, TX, and a cherished great-grandson, Benjamin Lang. Dolores's heart and home also embraced her children by marriage, Mel Hawkins (Chris), Kathleen Francour Mitchell (Jim), Mark Hawkins (Dawn), and Mary Rogers (Don), along with her grandchildren Jeanne Beaupre (Brant), Eric Hawkins, Laura Wilson (Ryan), Eve Baldwin, Joe Mundo (Jessica), Aaron Hawkins (Pennie), Sarah Hawkins, Ben Rogers (Whitney), Rachel Rogers (Ben Jarso), and 14 beloved great-grandchildren. As well as her many nieces and nephews.


Her life was a tapestry of love, service, and dedication to her family, friends, and neighbors, and her culinary skills are legendary. Best known for her homemade noodles, fried chicken, and lasagna.  Dolores will be deeply missed and forever honored in the lives of those she touched.

A visitation will be held 4 p.m.- 6 p.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2024, with a funeral service at 6 p.m. at Palmer Funeral Home ~ Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN 46635. A second funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. with a visitation beginning at 12 p.m. Saturday, October 12, 2024, at St. Mary Orthodox Church, 111 Alberta Ave, Johnstown, PA 15905. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery in Johnstown, PA.
