Dr. Joseph F. Donofrio “Joe” passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at the age of 79. Born in Paterson he grew up in Fair Lawn and was a long-time resident of Paramus. Dr. Donofrio was a well-known chiropractor in Paramus before retiring. He served in the U.S. National Guard during the Vietnam Era.
Dr. Donofrio opened his chiropractic office in Paramus in 1967. He was so committed to serving his patients that he hung a sign that read “We accept all cases, regardless of condition or financial ability to pay”. In his office, patients set their own fees based on their individual ability to pay. He practiced this way for 56 years, improving the lives of countless families, children, and individuals. At one point Dr. Donofrio had the largest chiropractic office in the country. Chiropractors came from all over the world to observe his model practice. He was a mentor to many and a sought-after speaker for most of his career. Dr. Donofrio played key roles in establishing two chiropractic colleges and was deeply engaged in chiropractic’s political and professional development in the state of New Jersey.
A committed and loving father and a devoted husband, Joe is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Diane J., three sons: Joseph Donofrio, his wife Amy; Daniel Donofrio; Matthew Donofrio, his wife Keri, and nine grandchildren: Ashley, Brooke, Victoria, Gabriel, Manny, Marco, Mario, Mya and Joey. Joe is predeceased by his son Joseph Michael.
