Raymond Cobb Obituary

Raymond Lee Cobb, born on July 17, 1948, in Stevenson, AL, to Louis Charles Cobb and Mary Marie Harris, embraced the Gift of Salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ at a young age. He attended Stevenson High School, where he set the basketball record for points scored. On November 2, 1968, Raymond married his beloved wife, Linda Darnell Cobb, at the Jasper County Courthouse. Their partnership and friendship lasted for 56 years. Raymond dedicated over 40 years to working with Scottsboro Aluminum, Revere and Norandal in Scottsboro, AL, serving as a certified truck and bus driver for the public school system. He cherished his travels across the country and the time he spent with his beloved family, and he knew no strangers. Raymond's faith was central to his life. He served as a deacon at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, providing invaluable dedication and support. He played a significant role in building and growing other churches in the area. On Sunday, September 29, 2024, surrounded by his family in Hospice Care, Raymond passed away at the age of 76. He leaves a lasting legacy of love and care, profoundly impacting his family and friends. His surviving family members, whom Raymond cherished deeply, include his devoted wife, Linda Buchanan Cobb; daughters Selena Cobb-Flowers (Atlanta, GA) and Camille Lankford (Gulf Shores, AL); sisters Betty Hutchins (Brother-in-law Joe) and Linda Robinson (Brother-in-Law Elijah) of Stevenson, AL; brothers Charles Cobb (Sister-In-Law Martha (deceased)) and Frank Cobb (Sister-In-Law Leona) of Stevenson, AL. He also leaves behind cherished nephews, nieces, cousins, and other relatives and friends. His Words: I've gone everywhere I wanted to go and done everything I wanted to do. There's not anything else I want to do; I'm satisfied. Visitation will be 1-2 Friday at the Stevenson Community Cemetery and a graveside service will be held 2 PM Friday October 4, 2024 at the Stevenson Community Cemetery.
