He is survived by his sisters, Barbara K. Cruickshank and Mona Lisa Casey, both residing in Keller, TX.
He attended school in Sheffield, PA before proudly enlisting in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1963 aboard the USS Oriskany. His dedication to his country was followed by a pursuit of technical education at Williamsport Technical Institute, where he honed his skills to become a tool and die maker. He retired from Universal Tooling Company after a long and successful career.
Dennis was a dedicated family man and proud Grandpa. He will forever be cherished by his children, Dr. Robert B. (Janine) Anderson and Kate (Matthew) Burnett; and his grandchildren, Evan and Benjamin Anderson, Madelyn, Ryan and Amy Burnett, and Isabella and Gianna DiDomenico. He never missed a sporting event or dance recital. He proudly wore his JHS and SW hats with his grandchildren's' names embroidered on the back.
A lifelong outdoorsman, Dennis found his greatest joys in nature. He was a member of the Allegany Outdoor Club and was a frequent hiker, biker, camper and kayaker. He often remarked that he should have been a park ranger. His passion for the outdoors extended to his involvement with the Boys Scouts of America, where he encouraged his son to the rank of Eagle Scout and continued as a Scout Master of Troop #145. He was honored with the prestigious Silver Beaver Award for his distinguished service to scouting. He also gave his time to the Audobon Society, volunteering for countless hours. He was awarded the Chairman's Award for his service and his involvement in delivering bird seed to area locations to sell for fundraising for the Audobon Society.
An avid reader, Dennis meticulously cataloged every author and book he read. His commitment to his community and nature extended through his volunteering, leaving a legacy of selflessness and service.
A man of faith, he was a devoted member of the former Immanuel Lutheran Church where he served as an usher and on several boards.
