William T. “Bill” Labbe, III, 77, of Providence, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024. He was the husband of Joyce L. (Whatmough) Labbe.
Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late William T. and Phyllis H. (Niezgoda) Labbe, Jr.
Mr. Labbe was an Army Veteran who served during the Vietnam War. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 18 years before retiring in 2006. Early in his career, he served many years as a manager for Emery Air Freight, later renamed Emery Worldwide. Mr. Labbe was a prolific reader who enjoyed playing cards, backgammon, cribbage, cooking and dining out but Sunday dinners with family is what he enjoyed most. He had a passion for wood working and had a skill in making all types of furniture. He was also an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.
Besides his wife he leaves one daughter, Michelle R. Labbe of West Warwick, three grandchildren, Taylor A. Labbe, Megan H. Labbe and Sarah J. Labbe, three great grandchildren, Amira Mateo, Alianna Mateo and Ezra Mateo, three siblings, Helena Brochu, Thomas Labbe and Michael Labbe and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late John M. Labbe.
His funeral service will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the PERRY-MCSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence. Burial will be held in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery. Calling hours, Thursday, 5-8.
