It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Jack Heenan on Sunday, September 29th, 2024. He was a cherished husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend to many. His family is devastated, but Jack’s life was a testament to love, strength, and unwavering kindness. His departure leaves an unfillable void in his family’s life and he will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege to know him. Born on July 11th in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Jack was a man of remarkable character.
He was a devoted family man who poured his heart into serving others. For more than 30 years, Jack was a loving husband to Theresa Heenan, who is bravely battling cancer. Their partnership was a beautiful testament to resilience and unconditional love, as they faced life’s challenges together with grace, compassion, and determination. Jack was Theresa’s rock, providing her with endless support, love, and encouragement throughout their journey. Together, they created a beautiful family raising their children Katie and Jake Heenan, with warmth and guidance. Jack took immense pride in their accomplishments and always encouraged them to pursue their dreams.
Jack’s love extended beyond his immediate family. He was also a beloved uncle and brother, known for his thoughtful nature and infectious sense of humor. He created countless memories with his loved ones and was always ready to spread joy with his endless “dad jokes”.
In his professional life, Jack volunteered at Dunn Loring Fire and Rescue Department as a pumper driver and EMT before joining the Fairfax County Police Department in 1992.
For 33 years, Jack served as a PCA II for McLean District Station and at the time of his retirement, 2/09/2024, Jack had served over 7,000 warrants. However, as accounted by many, he wore various hats throughout his time at McLean including but not limited to; patrol vehicle maintenance and breathalyzer recalibration. Jack was a dedicated co-worker and mentor, respected for his expertise and generosity. His time in law enforcement is decorated by numerous awards with the most notable being: the A. Heath On Thank Award, the Meritorious Service Award, and the Chief’s Eagle Award.
