Wayne Jenkins, 88, of La Fayette, IL, passed away Monday, September 30, 2024 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.

Born to Elton and Ruby (Filmore) Jenkins on September 24, 1936 in Colfax, IL. Wayne graduated from Octavia High School and Western Illinois University. He married Frances Kay Bridges on June 3, 1956 in Anchor, IL.

Wayne settled in the Stark County area in 1965 to coach basketball and teach at Toulon-La Fayette High School. In retirement, he and Kay enjoyed life at Lake Calhoun golf course.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Norma and Maxine and his son, Bruce.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Kay (Bridges) Jenkins, a son, Doug of Aurora, his daughter, Jill (Jerry) Klooster of Beavercreek, OH, his grandchildren; Nolan Jenkins, Julie Jenkins, John (Savannah) Jenkins, Sam (Khaimook) Klooster and Grace Klooster (Brian Stapleton) and great granddaughter, Aurora Klooster.

According to Wayne’s wishes no services will be held. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is assisting the family with arrangements.
