Mr. James Edward Potts, age 83 of Mayfield, passed away at 2:25 P.M. Monday, September 30, 2024 at the Jackson Purchase Medical Center in Mayfield. He was born on August 9, 1941 in Wingo, Kentucky to the late Willie D. and Mary Frances Hopkins Potts. He attended St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a retired tire builder for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Union City, TN. He is survived by his wife; Wilma Potts, three sons: Ryan (Lois) Potts, Benton, TN., Randy (Cheryl) Potts, Greenfield, TN., Eddie Thomas, Mayfield, two daughters; Robyn (Danny) Higdon, McKenzie, TN. And Elaine Thomas, Mayfield. Grandchildren: Ryanna (Ivan) Motley, Old Fort, TN., Reagan (Justin) Webb, Cleveland, TN., Kelsey (Tyler) Verdell, Cordova, TN., Dalton (Brittany) Potts, Springhill, TN., Denise (Keith) Dougles, Greenfield, TN., Colton Higdon, Jayme Higdon and Silvanna Higdon, all of Greenfield, TN., two grandchildren at heart; Amber (Coty) Frazier and Isaac Carter both of Fancy Farm . Great grandchildren; Greyson Webb, Cleveland, TN., Milo Verdell, Baker Verdell, Ledger Verdell all of Cordova, TN., Lincoln Potts, Springhill, TN., Tres Dougles and Ellie Dougles both of Greenfield, TN., Marlee Frazier and Ellie Frazier both of Fancy Farm. Four brothers; Willie (Jean) Potts, Shady Point, OK., Ray (Sue) Potts, Fancy Farm, Billy Potts, Sedalia, Kenny (Vicky) Potts Paducah, four sisters; Becky Moore, Senatobia, MS., Loudean (Kenny) Austin, Kaye (Marvin) Suiter, Alice (David) Gossum, all of Mayfield. A sister in law; Barbara Potts, Mayfield. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one son: Jamie Potts, a brother: Wayne Potts and a sister; Maxine Holshouser. Funeral services for James will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, October 3, 2024 at the Brown Funeral Home in Mayfield with Father Eric Riley officiating. Interment will follow in the Maplewood Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be; Dalton Potts, Colton Higdon, Jayme Higdon, Danny Higdon, Ryan Potts and Randy Potts. Honorary pallbearers will be; Amber Frazier and Isaac Carter.
