Funeral services for Charles Douglas Garrett, 91, a lifelong resident of Haynesville, LA will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday October 4, 2024, at Haynesville Community Church with Bro. Tim Cole officiating.  Private interment will be held at Old Town Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of Haynesville, LA

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Haynesville Community Church.

Charles was born January 22, 1933, in Haynesville, LA and passed away Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Heritage Nursing Center in Haynesville.

He was a graduate of Haynesville High School Class of 1951 and graduated from LA Tech in Ruston, LA.  He was the former owner and operator of Garrett’s City Café, a veteran of the U. S. Army. Charles was a  member of the Haynesville Community Church, and Gideons International. He was the former treasure for the Claiborne Parish Fair and the Poultry Clubs.  Charles was an avid gardener both flower and vegetable gardens.

Survivors include his daughter, Charlotte Garrett Ware, his son, Doug Garrett and wife Christy, four grandchildren, Ryan Ware and wife Rachel, Allison Ware, Reagan Garrett, and Kaylie Garrett, one great grandson, Hayden Ware.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Ware, Reagan Garrett, Scott Pratt, Keith Kilgore, Dr. Samuel Abshire, Buddy Cheatham.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Smith, Frank Bush, Mark Garrett, Richie Garrett, Tommy Garrett.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John H. Garrett and Nobie Hunt Garrett, his wife of 58 years, Nora Watson Garrett, four brothers, J. Clifton Garrett, John Sidney Garrett, William Herman Garrett, and T. Harold Garrett.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Haynesville Community Church.
