Katalin (Szerelmey) Mak was born on October 13, 1925 in Gyor, Hungary. She passed away peacefully in her North Carolina home on September 30th, 2024 at the age of 98 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Mak and her brother, Zoltan Szerelmey. Katalin and her husband, Peter emigrated to the United States in 1950, first settling in Chicago, Illinois and thereafter moving to Wadsworth Ohio where they raised their family. In her later years, Katalin lived with her daughter, Marta in Cincinnati, OH and then with her daughter Zina in Lillington, NC until the time of her death.
Katalin loved her family and leaves behind her son George (Kathy) Mak, and daughters Zina Casto, Marta (Andy) Graham, her grandchildren Malory (James) Dentmon, Mara (David) Farson, Katie (Eston) Herring, Arthur (Chloe) Casto, Zoriana (Seth) Hernandez, and Katerina Graham, her sister-in-law Carol Szerelmey, nieces and nephews—Irene Wirszchuk, Laura (Donald) Gold, Thomas (Kathy) Szerelmey, Robert (Andrea) Szerelmey, as well as many great grandchildren, great nieces and and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, October 13, 2024 at the First Baptist Church of Spring Lake. A graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Wadsworth, OH at a later date.
