Stephen Wesley McReynolds Obituary

Stephen Wesley McReynolds, 52, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 29, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Stephen was born in Morgan City, Louisiana, on November 27, 1971. He grew up in Patterson, Louisiana where he met his childhood friends who continue to follow his leadership and love making a brotherhood like no other. Stephen graduated with a BS in Business with emphasis in Petroleum Land Management, from the University of Southwestern Louisiana. After graduation, he married his wife Heidi and returned home to Morgan City where they started their family. Stephen was so proud to be the father of his two sons, Max and Noah.

Following his career, he relocated his family to Houston and later to Oklahoma City as a Senior Staff Landman for Devon Energy where he was well respected for his expertise and commitment to his work. This journey led to many lifelong friendships. Stephen’s home was not specific to a location, but his dedication to his family was apparent as his home could be anywhere as long as his wife and sons were with him.

Stephen is survived by his beloved wife, Heidi Adams McReynolds, and his cherished sons, Max and Noah McReynolds. He is also survived by his parents, Merri and John Wesley McReynolds; his parents-in-law, Doug and Ann Adams; and his siblings, Kelly Thomas and her husband Butch, and Carrie McReynolds Kunschner. Additional survivors include in-laws Angie Adams and Chuck Fontenot, Junior and Carrie Adams, Cassie Adams, Matthew Adams, Jeffery Leuenberger, Joanie and Christopher Hodnette, as well as his godchildren, Camille Mosley Finn, Oliver Adams, John Robert Carter, and Christopher Hodnette, Jr. He leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who were like family.

Honorary pallbearers are Robb Carter, Paul Darbonne, Brian Sharp, John Wilson, Scott Estay, and Jason Thorton.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edmond, Oklahoma, on Friday, October 4th, from 9:00 AM until service time. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM.

Stephen cherished time spent with his family and friends. His memory will live in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
