Mr. Lindy Rose age 74 of Smyrna was pronounced deceased at 7:52 a.m. Monday morning September 30, 2024 at The Waters of Smyrna Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center by Gentiva Hospice of Murfreesboro. He had made his home at The Waters since October 10, 2023.
Mr. Rose is at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday morning October 4th with Pastor John Hite the officiant. Interment will follow in the Rose Family lot in the East section at the Dixon Springs Cemetery.
Family and friends will assemble at the Dixon Springs Cemetery for the 11 a.m. graveside. There will no visitation at the funeral home.
Mr. Rose, having never married, was the last surviving child of two daughters and two sons born to the late Walter Marshall Rose Sr. who died at the age of 48 on October 19, 1954 and Ethel Agnes Gregory Rose who died at the age of 79 on March 23, 1993 and was born Morris Lynn Rose in the Riddleton Community on June 21, 1950.
The three siblings preceding him in death were Margaret Ann Rose Sloan who died June 19, 1975 at the age of 39, Walter Marshall (Pete) Rose Jr. who died May 31, 2008 at the age of 75 and Elaine Rose Hensley who died April 26, 2022 at the age of 90.
Also preceding him in death was his beloved friend, Suzanne "Sue" Scheper who died October 8, 2022.
A devout Christian, Mr. Rose was a 1968 graduate of East High School in Nashville.
He was retired from the Tennessee Valley Veterans Administration Center in Nashville where he was supervisor of the mailroom.
Mr. Rose, a Vietnam veteran, proudly served our country with the United States Army having been inducted in Nashville on February 26, 1970 and was honorably discharged January 13, 1972 at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Ten months and twenty-four days of his commitment was foreign service serving in the 3rd Battalion with the 4th Armored Division.
He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and the M-16 Expert Rifle Badge.
Mr. Rose loved baseball and especially his favorite team, the Cincinnati Reds.
His only survivors are nieces and nephews.
