Mr. William “Bill” Newton Dillard, age 81, of Clermont, Georgia, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2024 at his residence.

A celebration of life service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Memorial Park Riverside Chapel. Chaplain Roger Hutchison will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

Bill was born on March 25, 1943 in Sylva, North Carolina. He was the son of the late Lyle Ray Dillard and Harriet (Bryson) Dillard.

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years Abbie (Dryden) Dillard of Clermont, GA; son and daughter-in-law, William Newton Dillard, II and Karen of Charleston, SC; daughter and son-in-law, Morgan and Rob Sheppard of Jefferson, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Jessica Dillard of Dawsonville; grandchildren; Jack Dillard, Ty Dillard and Lennon Sheppard; brothers and sisters-in-law, Noel and Nancy Dillard and Jeff and Jill Dillard; and a number of other family and friends also survive.

Bill proudly served in the United States Navy. He graduated from Gainesville State College with an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. He retired from Georgia State Patrol with 32 years of service. He continued to serve as a security guard at Lakeshore Mall.
