CURTIS, Lois June (nee Karr), age 89, of Pontiac, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024 in Rochester Hills, Michigan. Lois was born on February 21, 1935, in Pontiac, Michigan to parents Vincent Milton and Martha May (Welsh) Karr. 

One of the most important aspects of Lois’ life was her family. Lois met the love of her life, Lyle Richard Curtis, while working at Pontiac Motors and they got married on June 5, 1954. Together they raised their family in Pontiac Twp, Michigan. Lois worked primarily as a stay-at-home mom and she took great pride in raising her children. One of their favorite activities that Lyle and Lois enjoyed doing with each other was riding their Harley Davidson Motorcycle, and camping at Mackinaw City. Lyle and Lois celebrated 50 wonderful years together before his passing in 2004.

Lois will be remembered by her family and friends as an amazing cook. She loved to cook for big family events and her family always looked forward to having her frosted turkey shaped sugar cookies, and her lemon meringue pie. In her spare time, Lois loved to read and crochet. Lois was extremely devoted to church and to God. She found joy in attending church, where she forged lasting friendships and offered her unwavering support to others.

Lois is preceded in death by her husband and parents. She is survived by her loving children, Julie Spencer, Becky Curtis, and Jeffrey (Chrissy) Curtis, grandchildren, Christopher (Candy) Spencer, Amy (Zac) Holmes, Drew (Hannah) Spencer, Clay Themm , Ashlyn Themm, Jeremy (Nichole) Curtis, Jimmy Curtis, the late Chelsea Curtis, and Cassandra Curtis; Seventeen Great-Grandchildren; Five Great-Great Grandchildren; and her sister, Peggy McGlothlin. Lois is also survived by many nieces and nephews, with special mention of her nephew, Rob Strassburg, who was always like a little brother to her.

A funeral service officiated by Pastor Tony Barbour will take place at The Boulevard Church (623 Walton Blvd., Pontiac, MI 48340) on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 12:30pm. The Curtis family will accept visitors from 10:30am until the time of service. Lois will be laid to rest at Christian Memorial Gardens in Rochester Hills following the service.
