Justine Almarine Warner Annis, beloved daughter of the late Chestine Warner and Elwood Mapp, Sr., was born on July 19, 1954, in Parksley (Whitesville), Virginia, and entered into heavenly rest on Sunday, September 29, 2024. On July 19, 2000, she was united in holy matrimony to Earl W. Annis, III, a union that brought joy to her life.
Affectionately known as “Pig” by family and friends, Justine was educated in the Accomack County Public Schools and earned her CNA certification from the Eastern Shore Community College. She dedicated her life to serving others as an employee of the Accomack County Health Department, where she worked diligently until her retirement in 2016.
Pig was a devoted member of Adams United Methodist Church. She served as a Stewardess and a member of the SPRR Committee. In her leisure, she enjoyed volunteering, playing the lottery, and watching her favorite shows, especially Westerns, HGTV, and QVC.
Justine’s passion for helping others extended beyond her professional life. As an outreach worker for the Eastern Shore Health District, she made countless contributions to her community and was recognized for her service. She was selected to attend a prestigious conference in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Her kindness and generosity touched many lives, and her home was always open to anyone in need. Justine made friends wherever she went and leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering service to her community.
Pig was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Loufloyd Warner; and her brother, Elwood “Butch” Mapp, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her husband, Earl W. Annis, III; children, Markeba “Dee-Dee” Purnell, Demitchius (Monica) Justice, and Travis (Wendy) Harris; grandchildren, Carrie, Shawn “SJ,” Jalik, Kandence, and Shakeese, who she raised as her son; sisters, Toni Malone, Denise (Kenneth) Smith, Alma (Jerry) Warner, Tammie (Theo) Townsend, Marshell Jones, Melisa (Mike) Marshall, Sheryl (Floyd) Nedab, Connie Bradford, Valerie Van Landingham, and Keva (Darryl) Gunter; aunt, Connie Mae Kinsey; step-mom, Juanita Mapp; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Lovingly and sorrowfully submitted,
The Family
