Joseph “Joey” “Joba” David Denes, 65 years of age, and a resident of Henrietta Township, passed away Monday, September 30, 2024 at his home.
He was born June 24, 1959 in Elyria where he was raised. Joe graduated from Elyria High School with the class of 1978. He had made his home in Henrietta Township for the last twenty-six years.
He was employed as a painter at Hydro Tube in Oberlin for seven years. Joe was an accomplished carpenter and was a member of the Ohio Carpenters Union. He was very knowledgeable in music and was a gifted guitarist and could be found more often than not relaxing on the front porch of the family home strumming his Martin guitar. He was a member of the Elyria Polish Club. Joe enjoyed traveling with his family. His great joy in life was time he spent with his children, grandchildren and the love of his life, Bonnie, gathered at home around a bonfire.
Survivors include his loving wife of twenty-six years, Gwendolyn “Bonnie” Arlene Denes (nee: Diederich); his children, Joseph K. Denes of Oberlin, Alexandra N. Denes (Jared) of Lorain and Anna K. Denes of Oberlin; his grandchildren, Kadin Tru Denes, Jax Granite Denes, Jade Fire Lewis and his expected namesake Josephine in February of next year; his siblings, Thomas Patrick Denes of Ashville, North Carolina, John Joseph Denes of Cape Coral, Florida and Marcia Ann Strickler of Elyria; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Louis and Bernice Josephine Denes (nee: Walend).
