Elizabeth “Betty” J. Orzo, 84, of Spotswood, passed away at St. Peter’s University Medical Center, New Brunswick, on Sunday, September 29, 2024.
Born and raised in Astoria (Queens), New York, Betty lived in Brooklyn, New York for several years before settling in Spotswood in 1971. She was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood, a CCD teacher in Immaculate Conception School and, a long-standing member of the Immaculate Conception Columbiettes. Prior to retiring in 2007, she was the owner of Nanny O’s Catering in Spotswood for more than 20 years. Betty loved spending time with her family and all of her grandchildren as well as her trips to Ireland with her family members. She also enjoyed playing lottery scratch-offs with her granddaughter.
Predeceased by her husband, Pat Orzo, in 2023; her sisters, Katie Vanden Heuvel and Anna Rabile, and; her brother, Connie Curtin, Betty is survived by her children, Carolyn Orzo and her partner Jeff Kimberlin, Mary Ellen Kelly and George Orzo and his wife, Linda; her siblings, David Curtin, Marie Egan and Winifred Charles; her grandchildren, Anthony Blaszka and his wife, Tammy, Joseph Blaszka and his wife, Trish, Nikole Ruffley and George Orzo, and; her great-grandchildren, Joey, Adrian, Lillian, Briella, Vinny, Niko and Casey Jane.
Funeral services will begin with a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, October 5th, from Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood, followed by interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, October 4th, from 3:00 until 7:00 PM at Spotswood Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Spotswood.
In lieu of flowers, donations honoring Betty’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
