Magee; George Albert
Peacefully at St. Joseph’s Health Centre, Guelph, formerly of Acton on Sunday, September 29, 2024 in his 80th year. Reunited with his beloved late wife Frances Annie nee Geddis. Loving father of Steven of Richmond Hill, Jamie of B.C., Ellen of Acton, Laura of Guelph and the late Cathy Karlsson. Cherished grandfather of Daniel, Adam, Noah, Chloe, Victoria, Aleena and Aiden.
George was born October 19, 1944 at Ms. Nuhn’s in Flesherton to Cecil and Josephine Magee. He was raised in the village of Eugenia and attended school there, as well as Flesherton district Secondary School. As was traditional in that time, George had to leave to school to help his parents with the farm. He met the loved of his life at only 17 years old and married her on May 23, 1969 in Chatham, Ontario. They took great pride in raising their 5 children together. Retirement brought George and Frances to Acton where George will be remembered by many as the crossing guard….who always showed up an hour and a half early to ensure the children could cross safely. He had a great love of fishing, the Toronto Maple Leaf’s and sweets. Namely O’Henry chocolate bars and boston cream donuts.
The family will receive friends at Gentle Shepherd Community Church, 426176 Concession 8, Flesherton, on Monday, October 7 from 12noon until the time of service at 1:00pm. Cremation has taken place, with interment at Salem Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to St. Joseph’s Health Care Centre, Guelph, would be greatly appreciated.
