Perla “Pearl” Iriz Garza, 66, of Port Isabel, Texas passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024.

Perla was born in Port Isabel, Texas on September 19, 1958. She was a dedicated, loving wife to Alfonso Garza for 38 years. Being the 3rd of 6 siblings, she showed so much love towards her older and younger brothers and sisters. Later in life, her passion expanded to her kids and grandchildren. Her family was the core of her life. She will be deeply missed by all her family and friends. May God bless her soul.

She is preceded in death by her son, Rolando Montez; her mother, Evangelina Montelongo; father, Azarel Garcia, Sr.; brother, Azarel Garcia, Jr.; brother, Miguel Enrique Garcia; sister, Juanita Garcia; grandmother, Maria Montelongo, and grandfather, Esteban Montelongo; grandmother, Teresa Vasquez Garcia and grandfather, Matilde Garcia.

Left to cherish her loving memory is her husband, Alfonso Garza; her daughter, Blanca Iriz Contreras; her son, Alfonso P. Garza, Jr.; son in law, Roberto Contreras; siblings, Lydia Montelongo, Robert Ford, and Javier Garcia; her five grandchildren, Rolando Roberto Contreras, Achilles Jozaiah Contreras, Robert Malaki Contreras, Amaziah Eli Contreras, and Kadrick Montez.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Holy Rosary at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea, 705 S. Longoria St., with a burial of her ashes to follow to Port Isabel City Cemetery, where she will be put to rest next to her beloved son, Rolando.
