Virginia Lee Lefever, “Ginny”, 97, passed away Monday, September 30, 2024 at Creekside Village. Born July 17, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Janet (Spiker) and Jesse James Apple.
She was employed as a nurse for 32 years at Western Maryland Hospital, retiring in 1989 as a supervisor.
She was a member of BPOE 378 Auxiliary, Funkstown Legion Post 211 Auxiliary, and local AARP. She loved volunteering with the Hagerstown Community College Volunteers and the Scholarship Fund. She also volunteered with ARC, and the Red Cross Blood Drive.
Ginny is survived by her daughter, Nancy Race (husband, Karney), four grandchildren, Kelly Jones (husband, Ben), Mitchell Race (wife, Sarah), Jessie Courtwright (wife, Shelly), and Kevin Courtwright (wife, Angela); and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Pamela Michell Courtwright; two sisters, Marlene Williar and Janice Trail; and brother, Richard Apple.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 2, 2024 from 6pm to 8pm at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD.
The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 11am with Rev. Nelson Newman officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
