Of Chalfant, age 70, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024.

Vern was born on May 9, 1954, in Los Angeles, CA to Elsie (Kurutz) and George Sidorovich.

Vern was the loving husband of Kathy (Castro) Sidorovich for 46 years.

He was the beloved father of Kristen and Michael Sidorovich. Vern was the brother of Lynne Anderson (Russ) and the brother-in-law of Dolly (Bill) Elm and Tony (Kim) Castro.

He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Vern was a retired employee of Wilkinsburg-Penn Joint Water Authority where he worked for 34 years. He was an outdoorsman who tremendously appreciated wildlife and all that nature has to offer. A favorite pastime of Vern’s was tending to his vegetable garden, planting flowers and caring for all of his landscaping.

Vern was a fan of music, especially blues music and festivals. He greatly enjoyed a family trip to New Orleans, a few years ago, where they listened to great blues and jazz and visited Preservation Hall.

Vern had been a volunteer with Boy Scout Troop 90 when Michael was a scout. A highlight of his time with the scouts was when he served as an adult volunteer on a trip to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.

Friends are welcome on Wednesday from 2-7 pm at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 700 Linden Ave. at Cable, East Pittsburgh, PA 15112, (412) 824-8800 where a Blessing service will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m.

Vern will be laid to rest in Monongahela Cemetery.
