Janet E. Thomas, 77, of East Freedom formerly of Defiance, PA; passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at home.  She was born on February 22, 1947 in Huntingdon, PA; a daughter of the late Ralph Eugene Russell and Ruth (Kifer) Russell-Guyer.  On March 28, 1964 in Winchester, VA; she was united in marriage to Thomas T. Thomas.

Along with her husband of sixty years, she is survived by two daughters Diane Hazenstab married to Michael, East Freedom, PA and Lori married to Matthew McGhee, Dudley; grandchildren Keirsten Leach married to Marshal and Oaklee Brode married to Courtney; great grandchildren Oaklynn Leach, Irelynn Leach, Lennon Brode, Rahlee Leach and one arriving soon Bayne Brode; and a step brother Paul Guyer, Jr. married to Bonnie, James Creek, PA.

Janet was affiliated with the Round Knob Church of God.

She was a member of the Bedford Springs Chapter No. 41 order of the Eastern Star.  Janet was a former member of the Six Mile Run Volunteer Fire Company, where she was an EMT for a number of years.

She and her husband enjoyed camping in their RV, traveling, and being around family, always supporting her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Janet spent her career working at Elco in Huntingdon, Saxton Bottling Company, Seton Manufacturing and later working for Dr. Scott Mohr Chiropractic.

Friends and Family will be received for a time of visitation on Thursday, October 3, 2024 from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service at the Akers Funeral Chapel, 715 Church Street, Saxton, PA 16678.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at the Akers Funeral Chapel with Pastor Suzanne Detterline officiating.

If friends so desire memorial contributions may be made in memory of Janet to a local volunteer fire company.
