James Henry Duden “Jim” age 82, of Clovis NM passed away on September 29, 2024, at his home after a brief illness. James was born to William Duden and Laura Priehs on July 25, 1942, in Glens Falls, NY. As a child Jim lived in Boston, MA and Palo Alto, CA before moving with his family to Mount Clemens, MI at the age of 11 upon his father’s passing. He graduated from Mount Clemens High School in 1960. He began working as an optician at Kmart in Michigan before pursing his dream of owning his own business. He bought The Optical Center in Clovis in 1970 and moved his family to New Mexico. Jim owned and operated The Optical Center, located in the Hilltop Plaza Shopping Center, from 1970 until his passing. Jim served the Clovis community with their optical needs for 54 years with great joy, love and respect. He never met a stranger. Jim was an avid car collector. He never met a car he didn’t like! He enjoyed buying and selling cars, washing and detailing his cars, attending car shows when he found the time, and collecting car related items including promo models, DAV tags, and license plates. Cars were his lifelong favorite past time.

Survivors include: daughter, Kristen Hinkson of Waterford, MI; daughter, Sarah Eulenbach (Jay) of Lubbock, TX; step daughter, C-ji Armijo of Clovis, NM; eight grandchildren, Trevor Eulenbach, Andrew (Maddie) Eulenbach, Haley Hinkson, Griffin Hinkson, Davis Eulenbach, Darby Hinkson, Jayson Eulenbach, and Boden Hinkson; sister, Liz Charbonneau of Michigan; and two nephews and one niece, all of Michigan. He is also survived by many loving friends and extended family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William Duden and Laura Duden, and brother; Richard William Duden.

There will be no formal service at the request of the deceased. The family requests donations be made to the charity of one’s choice in lieu of flowers.
