Carol Joyce Overstreet Overman 86, of Ridgeland, MS died September 30, 2024 at home after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease and cancer in 1968.

Visitation will be held at O'Bryant O'Keefe in Pascagoula on Oct. 5, 2024 from 1:00- 3:00pm.  Funeral Service will be at 3:00pm with Rev. Matthew Carter officiating in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula.

Born to Cevera and Violet Overstreet on Dec. 20, 1937, she grew up in Wayne County Mississippi but dreamed of traveling the world. And, she did after marrying the love of her life Bill Overman, a United States Air Force Master Sargent, to New Mexico and Japan were her favorites. But she said the love of New Mexico lived in her heart.

Mrs. Overman held a variety of positions over the years but her most favorite were wife to husband Bill for 57 years and mother to her children Virginia and Michael.

She was also an avid gardener. She could grow anything according to daughter Virginia, "Mom could plant a stick in the ground and grow a tree." "Now, she will garden for God." And, she held a great faith in God and was raised in the Baptist faith and baptized in 1969, but she found meaning, value, and beauty in all religions.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill Overman; son, Michael Overman; parents, Cevera and Violet Overstreet; sister, Marilyn Strickland and brother, John Overstreet.

Survivors include daughter,  Virginia Overman, PhD., Ridgeland, MS, sister- in- law, Mrs. Nell Hall; brother- in-law, Jack Overman; brother and sister- in-law, Hugh and Doris Overman all of Pascagoula MS; Mrs. Roberta Overstreet of Clinton MS; Mrs. Ruth Overman of Huntsville, AL; granddaughter, Kristen Lety of Vancleave MS, a host of nieces and nephews and 3 very dear friends, Tina Carter of Clinton MS, Mrs. Lynn Hunt and Mrs. Joy Ellis of Ridgeland Ms.

Pallbearers include nephews Kevin Hall, Scott Overman, Steve Overman, Eddie Overman, Joey Buza and friends Jim Gillen and Leighton Gillen. Honorary pallbearers Hugh Overman, Jack Overman, Tyler Morrison and Brian Overstreet.

Virginia and the Overstreet and Overman families would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to Heart of Hospice in Jackson MS, with a special acknowledgement to Mrs. Overman's care team members: Kalie L. Jones RN, Latoya Watson caregiver and aide, Latondria Banks RN, Katie Ann Cliburn NP, Mallory Knight NP and Jennifer Forman NP. Their help, guidance and friendship to both Carol and Virginia has been immeasurable.
