Janice M. "Jan" Donajkowski Obituary

Janice M. Donajkowski, 59, of Bay City passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on September 29, 2024.

Jan was born January 14, 1965 in Bay City, MI to Harry Schumacher and Patrica Schumacher (Burgoyne). She attended Unionville Sebewaing Area (USA) High School and graduated in 1983. She married the love of her life Robert Donajkowski on June 20, 1987. Rob was truly her soulmate and best friend. They created a beautiful life together filled with wonderful memories, laughter, and so much love. They had two children, Amanda and Brandon who are their greatest accomplishments. Throughout their marriage they most enjoyed going on short weekend trips, watching sunsets, and spending time with family. Watching her family grow and becoming a grandma brought her such joy. Her grandkids Michael, Hudson, and Mila were such a light in her life. She loved being a grandma!

Jan had such a love for taking care of children. Over her 37 years of being a daycare provider she impacted so many families. Jan always treated her daycare kids like one of her own. Taking care of kids was her calling in life and she truly enjoyed it. She loved going for walks around the neighborhood (with Blake or Fitz), enjoying a good ice cream sundae, and spending time with friends and family. Jan enjoyed watching a good basketball or football game. She would always root for the underdog! Jan and Rob were marriage prep counselors through Corpus Christi Parish. She took pride in knowing that they were helping build a foundation for successful marriages.

Jan is survived by her husband Rob, children Amanda (Michael) Halpin, and Brandon (Katherine) Donajkowski; sister, Renee Francisco; stepfather, William Burgoyne; mother-in-law, Maxine Donajkowski; grandchildren, Michael Halpin, Hudson Halpin, and Mila Donajkowski; Granddog, Fitzgerald Donajkowski. Jan was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Burgoyne; father, Harry Schumacher; father-in-law, David Donajkowski.

The Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at Corpus Christi Parish with Jan’s brother-in-law, Fr. Charles Donajkowski, presiding. Private Rite of Committal will be at Floral Gardens Cemetery.
